Michael Susko is a New York–based director, playwright, screenwriter, and educator whose work explores human connection under pressure and the choices people make when pushed to their limits.

​

An award-winning theatre artist, his directing and choreography have been seen across the U.S. and abroad, with credits including Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, Theatre Under the Stars, Casa Mañana, PaperMill Theatre, Westchester Broadway, and a twelve-year tenure as Resident Director at New Bedford Festival Theatre, where his productions of Hairspray and Les Misérables received the Moss Hart Award for Excellence in Theatre. In New York, his plays and direction have been featured Off-Broadway (THE BIGOT, F*CK, MARRY, KILL, CROSSING OVER) and at The Midtown International Theatre Festival, Alternative Theatre Company, Network Theatre, and The New Short Play Festival (Artistic Director).

As a performer, Michael has appeared in Broadway national and European tours, along with productions at Goodspeed Opera House, Paper Mill Playhouse, Walnut Street Theatre, Ogunquit Playhouse, and Pittsburgh CLO, as well as in film, television, and commercial work.

A passionate educator, Michael has taught theatre at Chadron State College and Southern Arkansas University, and currently teaches playwriting and dialects at ATC Studios in New Jersey. He holds an MFA in Playwriting from Goddard College and a BFA in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory.

Michael is a member of AEA, SAG-AFTRA, SDC, and The Dramatists Guild. His latest screenplay, Meridian, was named a Finalist at the 2025 New York City Horror Film Festival and at 13Horror.com’s International Screenplay Competition.
